Old friends and acquaintances often ask if we are still in Mexico, and if so, what are we doing? So here’s our story and some photos of our animal sanctuary efforts where we take in rescued animals, take care of their medical needs and then place them with reliable owners. Sometimes we adopt them ourselves and currently have four dogs and eight cats.
After retiring in the early 2000’s we moved to what was our beach vacation house in Playa la Mision, Baja Mexico which is on the Pacific Ocean. The rural community we now live in is approximately 70 miles south of San Diego. We moved down here, thinking we would eventually return to the States to live the normal life of retirees. But, after almost 25 years we are still here and have no intentions of leaving. The climate is great as is the laid-back lifestyle. Our Mexican neighbors are good people – industrious, helpful and now part of our lives.
